I get it, you’re tired and you’re overwhelmed and you may feel you don’t have enough time in a day to check everything off your to do list!Â
You are not the only one and there are things you can do that will help you successfully to GAIN more time.
Here is the deal, how you use your time is up to you. You GET to choose how you manage this precious ressource every single day.
The one that has to deal with the consequences of how you spend your time. You are the one who feel the effect of how you choose to use time. Â
One of the reasons why time is thrown out the window so easily is definitely because we tend to take it for granted. We wake up in the morning without acknowledging that we have just been granted the biggest gift of all, this day, another 24 hours.Â
These 24 hours are yours. They are yours to invest however you want. How you invest your time determines the quality of your day. How what you spend each day doing determines the quality of your week, your month, your year and your life. That’s why these successful tips to gain more time and improve your productivity are essential for all areas of your life!
The exciting part of all this is that EVERYDAY you get to start again and choose again. You get to show up differently today than yesterday. You get to invest differently and to experience new and improved consequences!Â
Now let’s be real the fact that you were tired this morning is a CONSEQUENCE of what you did last evening and night. If you invested 4 hours watching Netflix till 12 or 1 in the morning then I have no doubt that this morning’s 6 am alarm clock was NOT fun!!Â
Why does successfully gaining time matter?
So why do we keep using time unconsciously even though we KNOW we should be going to bed already to feel rested tomorrow morning?! Well, the instant gratification of watching grey’s anatomy is WAY more fun right now then the future gratification of waking up feeling energized tomorrow morning!!
Here’s how to have the best of both worlds. Watch your show if you like it and if it relaxes you and makes you laugh or inspires you or wtv. BUT add a COMA at the end of it. Add a NON-NEGOTIABLE stop time for your low investment activity to be completed.Â
Decide this stop time BEFORE starting to watch the show. Decide, CHOOSE how much of your precious time you are willing to INVEST in this activity and go for it.Â
When the alarm goes off or the activity is completed, wtv it may be- PHYSICALLY move from where you are and begin another activity.
Swap your usual 4 hours of netflix at night for 1 hour of netflix AND 1 hour of reading, stretching, journaling, making love and sleeping!!!
All of a sudden you will feel like you have successfully GAINED time and space to do what you ACTUALLY want to do. Â
Now if you’re thinking ‘okkkk well what if I WANT to spend 4 hours of my day watching grey’s anatomy?! Well if using 4 hours of your day watching a show is what you choose to do and you are aware of this choice YOU are making then get ready for the result, the consequence of this investment!!
It’s not WRONG if your choosing to use your time to do this or that UNLESS you OWN it! You are burdening yourself when the choices you make hold yourself back from showing up how you want to show up and you use EXCUSES as your reason why not!
HERE ARE 8 STEPS FOR YOU TO STOP WASTING YOUR TIMEÂ
- When you open your eyes in the morning, you’ve just been blessed with the most precious gift of all: 24 hours of life, the LEAST you can do is give thanks! Â
- You are not a victim to your life. You GET to choose. What it looks like, feels like, smells like and tastes like. If you invest 2 hours after work mindfully ingesting the highlights of everybody’s life (i.e facebook) there will be expected consequences AND if you DON’T LIKE those consequences then choose differently the next time around!Â
- Be honest with yourself and stop relying on excuses. Stop BLAMING [insert excuse] for the reactions to your actions and start owning your life.Â
- Take 5 minutes and reflect on your day. Write down ALL of the things you used your time on today. No judgement here, just lots of curiosity and light. The first step to any change is AWARENESS so let’s put the lights on shall we!? Once you have everything down on paper OBJECTIVELY go through your list. Next to each item on your list make a smiley face or a sad face depending on if this time usage made you feel good or not so good. Â
- Focus on the little things that build momentum. MAKE time for what fuels you with energy, motivation, clarity, love, peace, joy…PRIORITIZE the steps you need to feel good. Wake up earlier to make sure they get done, block schedule your time with what’s important first!Â
- DECIDE to be better. To show up better for yourself, your family, your friends. Make a commitment to life. Every morning, wake up and choose to make today great no matter what comes along! 🙂
- You’re the captain of your ship. You GET to sail wherever you want to sail. And you also choose how you want to get there and THIS requires you to take FULL responsibility.
- Just ditch excuses and own your life, you deserve that much!Â
